In fact, regular practice of yoga will not only help us to get healthy skin but also slows down aging. So keep reading till the end; this article will be really unique and informative. Now Let’s first discuss what yoga is?

Quick Jump

1. What is Yoga?

Yoga is an excellent way to ensure that our mind, body, and soul are in balance. Basically, yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices that originated in Bharat (India).

The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word Yuj, meaning “to yoke,” or “to unite.” Therefore yoga means the union of body, mind, and soul with the Paramatma or Supreme Soul.

Furthermore, it is a complete path by itself; it is a way of living life to its fullest, so that individual one unites with the whole existence of creation through proper practice, discipline and persistence. There are immense health benefits of yoga on the body.

The best part of practicing yoga for glowing skin is that after regular practice, the radiance you will achieve on your skin will be completely natural. You will never get such a natural glow even if you apply thousands of products on the face.

Meanwhile, now let’s see how yoga helps us to get a healthy, beautiful skin tone.

2. How Does Yoga Help Your Skin?

When we talk about yoga for the skin, it does not mean that it will only help rejuvenate the skin, but yoga also helps eliminate the cause of the problem with other health benefits as a bonus.

So let’s take a closer look at the power of yoga for glowing skin.

Yoga improves Blood Circulation and Oxygen Supply

Poor blood circulation is the major cause of tired, dull skin.

According to a study on the effect of Yoga Exercise on the Circulatory System, yoga poses benefits directly and enhances the circulation of blood and body fluids throughout the body. The body’s different organs are also positively impacted due to the adequate flow circulation to the various parts.

Proper blood circulation is responsible for the nutrients and oxygen supply to the skin & tissues and carries away carbon dioxide and other waste products.

So particularly on the face, when blood circulation is poor, oxygenated blood may not reach the outermost layers of the skin, leaving you with a dull or pallid complexion.

Regular yoga practice drastically improves blood circulation in the body and increases oxygen levels, which definitely helps to get glowing skin.

Yoga helps to improve digestion

Various research has shown that bad skin conditions are certainly triggered by poor digestion. If the body is not eliminating waste efficiently, toxins in the body start increasing, which results in poor skin health. Poor digestion not only affects the skin but also affects overall health.

So if you want radiant skin, then you must take care of your gut. Consistent yoga practice tends to increase the circulation of blood to the digestive organs, thus aiding digestion. Also, because of various bending & twisting asanas, bowel movement is regulated, and constipation is relieved.

More than that, it also stimulates the Agni (Digestive fire), which increases the appetite and balances the metabolism. As a result, a healthy gut, healthy you, and healthy bright skin.

Yoga helps to improve sleep quality

Insufficient sleep affects skin health and is also responsible for weight gain, fatigue, and depression-related problems. When we sleep, our body takes rest and recharges itself; similarly, our skin also heals and rejuvenates itself and also eliminates toxins during sleep.

Proper quality sleep is essential not only for a healthy body but also for a healthy skin glow. In a study, it is concluded that yoga exercises are associated with fewer sleep disturbances and good sleep quality.

So incorporate yoga in your life to get a quality sound-sleep daily.

Yoga helps to Reduce Stress and Anxiety

Stress! Stress! Stress!

This is the real evil that is literally damaging your skin and brain. From premature wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone to dark circles, stress can aggravate many beauty problems.

According to research, yoga is a readily available alternative method for stress relief because it lowers cortisol (stress hormone) production and increases endorphins production. So incorporate yoga in your life; it will definitely help you get a healthy skin glow by eliminating all the causes of dull skin.

Pollution and other causes of dull skin

As we had discussed, some of the internal problems can lead to dull skin. Similarly, various external factors can also steal your healthy glow. One of them is pollution; exposure of skin to pollutants and dust can cause various skin problems from dullness, allergy to acne. Sometimes these issues can be very severe.

But don’t worry, yoga also helps to combat pollution; it improves the lungs’ capacity; thus, it helps to keep toxins away. Regular practice of yoga removes dust and pollutants from your skin pore and keeps your skin clean.

The second and most important cause is the overuse of chemical-based cosmetics on the face. Harmful synthetic compounds cause allergy-like skin irritation, acne, skin discoloration, wrinkles, premature aging, etc.

So you have to limit yourself with the use of such products or use organic, natural, and chemical-free products.

    • Namaskaram Energetic reads,

If you are doing weight training then you must do yoga (even if you do it as a warm up).
No doubt weight training is very beneficial to maintain fitness and shape..
But over a period of time body tends to loss its flexibility because of it. No worrying, just 15-20 minutes of yoga definitely helps you gain even more flexibility and it also helps muscles and nerves to get a proper stretch which eventually calms and relaxes them👍

    • Namaskaram Seema Bardeskar,

It is really great to know you are curious to learn headstand 😅
First of all Headstand or Sirsasana is an advanced yoga asana.
First you try some basic beginner yoga asanas, practice them till you achieve perfection.
Then (If possible under guidance of a Yoga teacher) try practicing Headstand by taking support of wall. Eventually slowly and steadily you can easily learn to perform Headstand!

      Healthy Regards,
      Kuldeep Yele
