History of Udaipur

Udaipur is in southern Rajasthan, India, Asia. According to one opinion, Udaipur was founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II in the fertile circular Girwa valley, southwest of Nagda, on the Banas River.

It was established as the new capital of the state of Mewar. The Girwa region was already a weak plateau Chittorgarh that whenever it moved to, which is well known to the Chittor rulers, Thus was threatened with enemy attacks.

Maharana Udai Singh II, after the 16th-century fiasco of the artillery war, decided during his exile in Kumbhalgarh to move his capital to a more secure location. The monk blessed the king and convinced him that it would be well protected, directing him to build a palace on the spot.

As the Mughal Empire weakened, the Sisodia rulers gained their independence and left Chittor and recaptured Mewar.
