History of Udaipur
Udaipur is in southern Rajasthan, India, Asia. According to one opinion, Udaipur was founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II in the fertile circular Girwa valley, southwest of Nagda, on the Banas River.
It was established as the new capital of the state of Mewar. The Girwa region was already a weak plateau Chittorgarh that whenever it moved to, which is well known to the Chittor rulers, Thus was threatened with enemy attacks.
Maharana Udai Singh II, after the 16th-century fiasco of the artillery war, decided during his exile in Kumbhalgarh to move his capital to a more secure location. Ayad therefore, while hunting in the foothills of the Aravalli range, said that he has come near a monk, Where it has chosen its new capital city, to start the ridge east of Lake Pichola, there was a possibility of flooding.
The monk blessed the king and convinced him that it would be well protected, directing him to build a palace on the spot.
Uday Singh II consequently established a residence on the site. In November 1567, the Mughal emperor Akbar surrounded the entire fort of Chittor.
As the Mughal Empire weakened, the Sisodia rulers gained their independence and left Chittor and recaptured Mewar. Udaipur is a hilly region and being unsuitable for heavily armored Mughal horses became a princely state of British India in 1818 which remained the state capital, Udaipur remained protected from Mughal influence despite much pressure. Presently, Arvind Singh Mewar is the 76th patron of the Mewar dynasty.

8. The Crystal Gallery:
The Crystal Gallery is a part of Fateh Prakash Palace which was opened to the general public in the year 1994. This 129-year-old gallery has a wonderful collection of Osler crystals on display. Maharana Sajjan Singh specially bought them in 1877 AD from the famous crystal makers F and C Osler Company of England.
9. Fateh Sagar Lake
Fateh Sagar is a beautiful pear-shaped artificial lake that was developed in the year 1678 by Maharana Fateh Singh. It is one of the four lakes of Udaipur and is considered the pride of the city. It’s beautiful and soothing.
Passenger Local Bus Boating in Fateh Sagar Lake is one of the most famous activities here. To roam the lake you can hire an ordinary yacht, motor yacht or speed yacht. The fee for the yachts is very modest. So it’s quite an amazing experience to be there.
10. Doodh Talai:
Another popular destination is the Dudh Talai lake.। This lake is nestled among many small hills, which are themselves tourist attractions. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park and Manikala Lal Verma Garden are part of Dudh Talai Lake Garden. Manikya Lal Verma Garden offers amazing views of Lake Pichola and Dudh Talai Lake. It is in the midst of recent attractions and was built in 1995 by the Nagar Parishad (City Council) of Udaipur.
One can reach the top by taking steps or driving. Locals often visit the Karni Mata temple on the hill which houses a white stone statue of the goddess. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Udyan is a small garden on the surrounding hill, developed by the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) of Udaipur.
Its attraction is Rajasthan’s first musical fountain, also a popular attraction among locals and spectators. The garden overlooks Lake Pichola and offers spectacular views of the sunset to the viewer. A ropeway connects the top of these two hills and takes tourists to the Karni Mata temple.
11. Jaisamand Lake:
Jaisamand Lake of Udaipur is famous for being the second largest artificial lake in Asia. In fact, it was Asia’s largest artificial lake, until the Aswan Dam was built in Egypt. The summer palace of the Queen of Udaipur forms the perfect backdrop for the lake.
It has six, intricately carved marble cenotaphs on its embankment. The graceful marble steps lead to the water and you can enjoy a beautiful boat ride in the enchanted waters. Jaisamand Lake is close to the Jaisland Sanctuary which serves as a habitat for a variety of birds, leopards, leopards, deer, wild boars, and crocodiles. It is definitely worth a visit.
12. Eklingji Temple:
Shree Eklingji Aaradha Dev is an ancient temple of Lord Shiva, there are faces around the idol of Shivling located here, and small temples of 108 deities are located in the temple complex. Though you can not visit all of them, you can visit and pray in the main temple of Eklingji.
13. Jagdish Temple:
This temple is also an excellent example of the Maru-Gujrana architectural style. The temple appears to be a miraculous architectural structure with carved pillars, beautiful ceilings, and painted walls. This temple is built on a tall huge platform. Very beautiful carvings have been done in the outer parts of the temple.
14. Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal:
Currently folk arts board, folk arts, puppets, Rajasthani folk dance, folk dance. There are different rooms related to Gavari’s characters, Pad, Kavad Kala, Mukhoto, which shows made of wood and glass in a very good way. On the last floor of the main building, a theater for puppet dance has been built in the last, in which after some time a program of puppet dance is presented according to the arrival of the tourists.
There is a theater built outside the main building when the tourists are in excess. A huge theater has also been built behind the main building, in which many programs and puppet programs like Kabuliwala are staged annually by Lok Kala Mandal.
Puppet-making handicrafts are sent abroad by the Lok Kala Mandal to propagate Indian puppets, teach them the art of making, and to learn the art of making foreign puppets. And similarly, artists who produce puppets and show the dance of foreign puppets are invited to Udaipur.
In the adjoining room, Rajasthani link instruments have been displayed as well as pictures of some of the prominent Rajasthani artists playing it. A gallery of the building is completely related to the folklife, culture, festivals, and traditions of the Bhil tribe. And in other galleries, jewellery, and clothes, etc. of other tribes are displayed.
15. Gulab Bagh:
it’s like a normal park but the area of this park is so huge. Local people come here to walk and exercise in the morning. The atmosphere of this park is so peaceful and serene.
Gulab Bagh is an ancient sub-city level park, showcasing the lush green campus, with ponds, library, zoological park, temples, and many government offices. The park has four entrance gates, out of which only two are open to the general public.
Best Time to Visit Udaipur:
The best time to visit this beautiful Udaipur city is the winter season. The temperature remains comfortable and balanced. The best months to visit Udaipur city are September, October, November, December, February, and March.
